Travelling At Night Tier List Hub

Opinionated rankings for a choices-matter CRPG without combat

Tier List Hub

Tier lists in Travelling At Night cannot mean DPS charts. Weather Factory’s combat-free CRPG ranks by how reliably a Career, Passion, or Skill opens Antibes, manages Dread and Trace, supports crafting, and teaches systems before you leave for Mimata. This hub collects those opinionated rankings so you can optimise without pretending Spencer Hobson is a battlemage.

What “tier” means here

S-tier means first-run friendly or broadly flexible in the 10 August 2026 Introduction demo. A-tier means strong with a clear fantasy. B-tier means viable but spikier—great for replays, riskier for learning. Nothing is “unplayable”; the demo is dense enough that skill beats spreadsheet worship. Rankings assume you will recruit Vincent when possible, craft at least once, and read How to play.

Pages in this hub

  • Career tier — Exorcist, Writer, Conjurer, Physician ordered for demo learning curves.
  • Skill priority — which of the sixteen skills to feed first.
  • Passion picks — Sorrow, Appetite, Curiosity, Melancholy, Whimsy, Ambition, Compassion pairings.

Cross-check every rank against roleplay pages in Builds and concrete packages in Starter builds. If a tier contradicts the story you want, keep the story.

Methodology

We weigh: (1) early check coverage in town and sanitarium, (2) synergy with demo systems—crafting, outfits, Footnotes, (3) Dread/Trace safety, (4) Nenah-lead flexibility, (5) teaching value for Secret Histories newcomers. We de-weight full-game speculation about Lalla Chaima, Corso Reverte, and later regions, though we note when a pick is a “future investment.”

How to use rankings without ruining mystery

Read the S-tier recommendations, pick one, then hide the rest until after a clear. Antibes has Cultist Simulator–scale word count; spoiling every NPC path for a 2% check edge is a bad trade. Use ranks to avoid trap thinking—“I need combat skills,” “Charm is useless,” “Conjurer is a mage”—not to script every line with Léon or Dr Aubiere.

Systems that change ranks mid-run: Dread & Trace, Outfits, Crafting. World context: Antibes NPCs, Map locations. Capture your chosen tier stack in the Build Planner.

Disclaimer

These lists are fan analysis for an upcoming full game with a live public demo. Patches can retune difficulties. When official balance notes land, revisit Demo status. Until then, treat tiers as conversation starters grounded in Weather Factory’s published fantasy: Dignity for physicians, Spivvery for hot meals, Sophistication for writers, Skolekosophy for the forbidden.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the demo and official notes.

Is there a single best career?

For first demo clears, Physician and Writer rank highest for readability. All four careers can finish Antibes.

Do tiers ignore roleplay?

No—roleplay wins ties. Tiers only break ties when you want optimisation language.

Will full-game releases invalidate these lists?

Later areas will shift priorities. Demo ranks remain valid for Introduction replays.

Should I follow skill tiers exactly?

Follow the top three for your Career, then let Memories and Footnotes flex the rest.
