Travelling At Night Antibes Introduction walkthrough

From rainy station gloom to sanitarium secrets—and the train onward

Last updated:

Antibes Walkthrough

This walkthrough routes Travelling At Night’s Introduction demo without scripting every line. You step off the train at the Gare d’Antibes into dark, rainy perma-gloom, explore a literally war-torn town, then enter Sanitarium Aujourd’hui—an Incorporate-sponsored retreat run by Dr Aubiere. The demo ends when you board again toward Mimata. Combat never appears; conversation, meters, crafts, and Footnotes do.

Arrival and first hour

Learn movement and UI via Controls. Talk to whoever the station and early streets offer, but watch Trace—Léon is a devoted servant of the State, and difficult conversations can accelerate sanitarium entry. Invest early Memories into your starter priorities. Open the first Footnote when a Memory activates; treat it as part of play, not optional lore spam.

Town landmarks to cover

  • Librairie des Heures — Andrée the libraire; Writer heaven; intelligence and books.
  • Church of St Reparata — Father Jaume; Exorcist home; holy-aspect crafting.
  • Janvier et Fils — Spencer’s tailor from before the Wars; trust, needles, outfit themes.
  • Chez Felix Pompon — Linou’s café; Aristide the cat; candle-lit talk; Charm/Trace school.
  • Side personalities — Aristide’s cynicism, Jean Bernard’s dejection, Leopold the argumentative Finn painter, Philomele’s diffident elegance, Zélia the grande dame.

You do not need every NPC on run one. Weather Factory notes twenty-plus characters plus semi-secret ones—leave gifts for replays.

Entering Sanitarium Aujourd’hui

Enter when story pressure or Léon friction pushes you—or when you choose. Inside: Mathis in orderly whites, sleekly smiling Dr Aubiere, Fraser Strathcoyne (philanthropist, collector, former Hush House Librarian embracing Cross-nature), Khione the striking cat, Bessy Bloom in graceful motion, Rodia with a tendency to greenery, and Vincent, cheerful Légion comrade. Physician Dignity shines; all careers can proceed.

Mid-demo systems checklist

While routing, deliberately: craft once at a thin-place station; swap outfits for weather and Respectable scenes; expand two Footnotes; glance at Dread/Trace after major talks; chase at least one Nenah lead without turning the run into only that hunt. Details: Craft items, Outfits, Manage Dread.

Optional rarefied location

Weather Factory teases at least one more rarefied place reachable if you follow your heart. This walkthrough will not pin it on a map marker—treat pursuit as Passion practice.

Toward Mimata

When Introduction beats resolve and the station calls, review the complete demo checklist. Boarding ends the demo slice by design; the full game continues the night journey across more than a dozen locations. If you feel unfinished, that is intentional density—reroll Career rather than assuming you failed.

Career-flavoured routing tips

Physician: sanitarium early is fine. Writer: bookstore/café before deep clinic politics. Exorcist: church crafts before Appetite experiments. Conjurer: thin-place crafts after you can still afford Dread mistakes. Log contrasts in the Build Planner.

When you get stuck

Widen the map, swap outfits, lower Dread with rites or quieter scenes, bring Vincent to a check, or talk to someone you snubbed. Re-read How to play if meters confuse you. Consult Antibes NPCs for role categories without full scripts.

Weather and pathing

Rain and gloom are not only mood—they justify trenchcoat kits and slower outdoor routing. Move landmark-to-landmark instead of zigzagging every alley on run one. When pathfinding fights you indoors, repath rather than forcing clipped corners; polish continues. Keep a mental compass: station, church, café, clinic.

Conversation budgeting

Budget three deep talks per session before checking Trace. Deep means nested tooltips and follow-ups, not drive-by hellos. Léon friction can compress the schedule into sanitarium time—accept that as a branch, not a failed town tour. Writers who ignore the clinic and Physicians who ignore the bookstore both miss half the Introduction’s teaching.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the demo and official notes.

Do I have to enter the sanitarium immediately?

No. Town exploration first is valid—unless Léon or story pressure accelerates entry.

Is the demo only Antibes?

Antibes town plus Sanitarium Aujourd’hui, ending on the train toward Mimata.

How many NPCs should I talk to?

Enough to learn systems and chase Nenah/Vincent. Save completionism for a low-Trace second run.

Where is combat?

Nowhere. Keep looking for conversations and crafts instead.
